TRANSPORTATION IN STUTTGART -

How to move around inside the city of Stuttgart
Types of train ticket available on the Stuttgart subway

TOURIST TICKET.
If you do not want to complicate and visit the city for two or three days, the most practical thing is to buy a special ticket for tourists, this will make your visit quite easy, the ticket covers you for three days throughout the train and bus network and includes both First zones where you will be covering zone 1 which is the one you will use the most but also zone 2 that includes the international airport. This ticket can be purchased specifically at the tourist office of the city, which you can find when you arrive both at the airport and outside the central train station in case you arrive by that route, they will attend you in English! . The price is of EU 25, although it is true it is possible to save a few Euros if you know the stations you will need and the ticket options available in the automatic machines, otherwise, if you do not know and do not speak the language it is possible to finish spending more and wasting more time.

Kursticket
Or Short distance ticket. This is probably the lowest cost ticket. You can buy this by pressing the specific Kursticket button on the automatic machine, this will cover only three stations from the point it was issued. The cost is EU1.8

Tagesticket
Or ticket of the day. This is probably the most suitable ticket for many visitors, this also has its own button on the machine, with this ticket you can use all the train and bus lines throughout the day, you will only have to specify how many areas you will need. To buy the ticket is simple, it is to use the tagesticket button, then the machine will ask you for the specific date you want to validate your ticket and then the area. The price is about EU6.

Gruppeticket or Group Ticket, this is another option that you find with a button on the automatic machine, this as its name establishes is a ticket for groups that help save a few Euros when traveling with friends or family.

Monat Ticket for this ticket you will need a special card that you can request at the SSB offices, the offices can be found at the central station, and also in Charlotenplatz or Rothbulplatz, in monthly ticket options it is mainly for residents or students, for the Issuance of the card will ask for your passport and fill out a form, usually in the offices they will only attend you in German language, and there are different options and rates for residents, including poly cards. This is a much more extensive topic, if this is your case, you will have to visit the offices to see your best option. What I can tell you is that you can get monthly tickets up to around EU60 for an area, or even monthly EU45 for one-year contracts with automatic charges to mobilize without problems, the price will logically depend on how many areas you need and the schedules of coverage.
But in the machines you can only opt for the payment of one month always requesting the indicated card and paying month by month, this ticket is recommended especially for students or workers who plan to live in the city for a few months.

Wochenticket - this is a tiket that has valid for one week, has its own button on the automatic machines and works in the same way as the one-month ticket, it is necessary to have a card to access this ticket.

BadenWurttemberg Ticket
This is already a slightly more special ticket, it has valid for a full day within the entire State of Baden Wurttemberg. The price is EU28 and is quite functional if you like to visit destinations within Baden Wurttemberg on a full day, for example you can visit cities like Karlsruhe, Mainheim, or Konstanze on the lake and use regional trains, not just the S-bahn or U-bahn within the city, if not all the regional lines and also internal lines of other cities of the State.

Metropol Ticket

It works similar to the Baden Wurttemberg ticket, but the coverage is lower, it is not valid throughout the State, the price is EU20 and you can travel for example to the Swabian Alps to the south, or the nearest cities like Tubingen. The ticket is valid for a whole day.
It is also very important that every time you use the U-bahn transport service you will have to enter the ticket in the yellow box of the doors where it is recorded that the ticket was already used, otherwise you could be fined. The fact that in many cases, especially within cities, the use of the subway does not have a permanent surveillance control is very commented, and it is the will of each person to buy the appropriate ticket and register it, because in many cases nobody will control your ticket . So many people may think about trying not to buy it, but the truth is that if there are agents that control every day and at all times randomly, especially in strategic stations so it is quite risky not to have the ticket, the Fine for using transport without a ticket is EU60, in addition to having a bad time since the agents in charge of checking could take you with the police in case of not paying or trying to flee. Also take into account that if you buy an unsuitable ticket, for example with the wrong zone, even if you have paid part of the ticket, the agents will have the right to issue the same fine as if you have not bought any ticket.
