Carnival (Fasching) returns this year 2023

What is Fasching? Here we give you some information about the Carnival.

Hello everyone, welcome to Stuttgart, as you saw we are already in full carnival, after several years of cancellations for health reasons, we finally say goodbye to winter with this historic carnival, this parade of masks and costumes runs through the entire city from Marienplatz in the south , passing through the entire center until it reaches the castle square, where it surrounds the entire square and then deviates through Karlsplatz and finally ends in the Market Square, that is, it covers the entire center. Very good atmosphere in general, and Above all, very good weather this year 2023, the attendees even in T-shirts enjoyed it, when supposedly we are still in winter.

And if you wonder what's up? What is fasching? Here I am going to tell you a little about what I was able to investigate by asking and reading.
Fasching is what translates into Spanish as Carnival, and well that's what is celebrated! the Carnival But hey, not to leave you like that, I tell you that it has many historical theories of why and since when. And here I summarize quickly.

There is a theory that is somewhat traditional Christian religious, it is said that the carnival takes place before Lent, to say goodbye to meat, since from then until Easter it is already forbidden to eat meat, and it is that in fact the closure of the carnival season is carried out with the parade on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday that begins Lent. There is another theory that claims to be a totally pagan party, and other people told me that it is to eliminate the bad spirits of winter and that spring comes soon, in the end the truth is that up to this point and after so many years, the carnival has a little of all the theories, since in any case what is proven is that it is a party that dates back to the Middle Ages, which is why it is hundreds of years old, and that it is very popular in many places, including here in the Stuttgart city. So it is hard to believe that for so long there have been no changes in the meaning, form and why the celebration of carnival.

People dress up, children in schools hold events and logically also dress up, some companies give their employees a day off and on Tuesday, as I told you, the day that fasching week ends, the famous parade is held, where several clubs social, and companies from different regions of Baden Wurttemberg prepare their costumes, music, floats.

And well, here we show you the images of the parade so that you get a better idea and that you can live the experience with us!
